Imperiopolis
The Imperial capital is located near the heart of the core territories of the Intergalactic Empire, the fabled 'Sacred Lands' on Gaia. Seat of the Imperial Captaincy and location of all government offices, Imperiopolis is the largest city in Trekylon. Three highways connect Imperiopolis to the nearby cities of Columbus, Atlan and Jacksonia. Smaller freeways link the capital to the port city of Mobilia, the industrial capital of New Birmingham, and the manufacturing capital of Macon. Four canals link the Chahoochee River with the city, and the nearby communes of Harriman, Castillo, Chakotay and Kyle. One of the canals continue to the Alabama River, thus linking by water the cities of Imperiopolis and New Montgomery. On the outskirts of the capital, the Imperial Palace is protected by a wall 3 stories high. Among the tourist attractions in Imperiopolis are the Great Pillars (one commemorates the founding of the empire, and the other, the founding of the Dual Monarchy), the Obelisk of Light, the Obelisk of Michael, and the Panther Statue, in homage to the origins of the Imperial family.
In a special walled section of the capital is Diplomats' Square, where diplomats and their families live and work. Each embassy is governed by the laws of the home country. A group of 100 honor guards are granted to each embassy out of respect for each nation. Diplomats are invited to attend holiday celebrations both international and local, such as the Imperial birthday, the Age of Ascension, and the Renewal Festival. When attending these festivals, His Imperial Majesty is always accompanied by a guard of 50 samurai and 50 Jem'Hadar, who guard him fiercely from any attempted assassinations.
Sporting events such as wrestling, bat'leth tournaments, football and hoverball are played in the Great Coliseum, built in Roman architectural style. His Imperial Majesty is a big supporter of the Smiths Panthers football team, and attends all the local games. Racing cars is another sport in which the emperor can be seen cheering the racers on. Baseball, popular sport in the old United States, has made a comeback and there are currently 6 teams.
There are three major museums in Imperiopolis and the surrounding areas. The New Columbus Museum, the Imperial Museum, and the Museum of East Alibamo. Each museum features aspects of both cultural art and archaeology. Theaters such as Springer Theater, Opelika Theater, and the Theater of the Two States in Imperiopolis offer a wide variety of shows, poetry, music and dance. The people in Imperiopolis love their emperor, and the emperor loves his people.
On the special occasions such as the Imperial Birthday, victory parades, and certain festivals, the streets are cleared of hovercars for the duration of the events. The first military parade occurred at the end of the Interstellar War and coincided with the wedding festival for the Emperor Drake I and new Empress and wife Jada, who is also titular Queen of the Verulon Star Republic with her adoptive father, former emperor Michael I as king.During these events, the airspace over the capital city are closed to all traffic while anti-air and anti-orbit defenses are constantly manned to prevent a Pearl Harbor-type attack. Transporter scramblers are also active to prevent sudden ground attacks. Even when the airspace is open to all traffic, air-defenses are always active.
