Klingon Starships
D-2 battlecruiser
The D-2 is a primitive warp 3 starship developed by the Klingons as a result of acquiring warp technology from the Ovtpril, a race of pelican-like humanoids who often traded with the Klingons. These ships could only travel at sustainable speeds of warp three, which limited the number of systems the Klingons could visit at any given period. These ships were also armed with pulse-laser cannons, as technology for disruptors had not been developed yet. There are no ships of this class in service as they have all been decommissioned. Two surviving ships of this class can be found at the Orbital Military Museum, over Ty'Gokor. No information remains on record about the ship's crew complement or size.

D-3 battlecruiser
The D-3 battlecruiser was a small step up from the D-2 cruisers. Unfortunately, the H'urq invasion put an end to what would've been a promising new design of ship when they managed to annihilate 345 of these ships in a battle near Beta Lankal. In the period of the brief H'urq occupation, many of these ships were intentionally destroyed by the occupiers to prevent an uprising. One did eventually happen, as the Klingons learned the secrets of warp-five travel and applied it to driving the H'urq from their territory. Four of these ships managed to survive the occupation period and were brought to Ty'Gokor, where they now orbit as exhibits. They are the last remnants of the fleet of D-3 ships. No official information on the D-3 cruisers has survived the H'urq period, and new files are being created with the assistance of the Imperial Historic Archives (IHA)

D-4 battlecruiser
The D-4 battlecruiser was the first fully-fledged warship in the Klingon Defense Force. Using the template that would be refined as time progressed, which would give birth to the D-7, K'ting, and Vor'cha class ships of a later age, the D-4 cruiser combines efficient design and deadly weaponry. Capable of planetary bombardments when in groups, the D-4 cruiser is a lethal form of Klingon muscle. Currently there are 395,000 ships in service, with no plans for expanding their numbers.
Vessel Type: Heavy cruiser Length: 300 m long 225 m wide 75 m high Crew Complement: n/a Armaments: Disruptors Torpedoes Warp Speed (Max.): Warp 6 D-5 Battlecruiser
The D-5 battlecruiser was among the first battlecruisers used by the Klingons prior to the Unification Treaty which granted them the status of 'founder race' in the Intergalactic Empire of Trekylon. A simple design, the D-5 cruisers are a terrifying site to those systems who oppose the Klingons or Trekylon as a whole. Two forward disruptor cannons and two secondary disruptor cannons enable this ship to lay waste large areas of a planetary surface. Currently there are 400,000 ships in the Klingon Defense Force contingent of the Imperial Starfleet, with no plans to expand the numbers.
Vessel Type: cruiser Length: n/a Crew Complement: 25 enlisted Armaments: disruptors torpedoes Warp Speed (Max.): Warp 6 |
D-6 battlecruiser
The D-6 battlecruiser is a major design upgrade from the D-5 ships. Equipped with a cloaking device given to them by the Romulans, the D-6 cruiser is a major technological achievement for the Klingons. It is believed that this design came about as a result of the invasion by a race known to the Klingons as the H'urq (in the pre-Unification era). Because this design of ship was not used for very long-replaced by the newer D-7 model cruisers, not much information is available about the size, crew complement or maximum warp speed. Currently there are less than 100,000 ships of this class in service, due to a gradual decommissioning of each ship as newer ship classes are made available.
D-7 battlecruiser
The D-7 battlecruiser is the first modern starship in the Klingon Defense Force. Traded to the Romulans in exchange for the cloaking device, the Klingons later developed a more upgraded version of the D-7 which is displayed here. Equipped with the Romulan cloaking device, the D-7 can slip into enemy territory undetected and attack supply convoys, military outposts, even colony systems. Currently there are 550,000 ships of this class in service, and though there are no plans to expand their numbers, there are neither any plans to decommission them in the near future.
Vessel Type: Heavy cruiser Length: 340 m long 245 m wide 95 m high Crew Complement: 440 Armaments: Disruptors Torpedoes Warp Speed (Max.): Warp 6 |
K'tinga-class battlecruiser
The K'tinga-class cruiser is a refined version of the D-7 cruisers, with a larger crew capacity and higher warp speed capability. The primary defensive vessel in the Klingon colony-systems, the K'tinga-class ships are equipped with cloaking technology for stealth missions. These ships aren't as heavily used as the newer ships, but they remain an essential part of the Klingon Defense Force contingent of the Imperial Starfleet. Currently there are 855,000 ships of this class in service, with no immediate plans to expand their numbers.
Vessel Type: Heavy cruiser Length: 349.54 m long 251.76 m wide 98.41 m high Crew Complement: 800 Armaments: 6 ship-mounted disruptors 2 torpedo launchers Warp Speed (Max.): Warp 9.6 |
Mattarra-class battlecruiser
The Mattarra-class battlecruiser is a mysterious ship of obvious Klingon design. Incorporating many aspects of the K'tinga-class design, the Mattarra-class has rarely been seen outside Klingon jurisdictional space. Nothing is known of the size, maximum warp speed and crew complement of the Mattarra-class ship, but it is believed to carry the same number and type of weapons systems as the K'tinga-class ship. It is also believed to carry a cloaking device. Currently, it is estimated that there are 25,000 ships of this class, though whether this is the exact number is unknown.
|
D-29 battlecruiser
The D-29 battlecruiser is a smaller version of the D-7 cruiser, and has modifications to the hull design that are not a carry-over from the D-7 design. Primarily used in system defense, the D-29 is heavy on weapons and armor, light on shield strength. Because of the heavier hull-plating, the ship is slower in FTL speeds than other ships. Currently there are 200,000 ships of this class in service, with no plan to expand their numbers.
Vessel Type: Heavy cruiser Length: 345.55 m long 250.75 m wide 98.40 m high Crew Complement: 750 Armaments: 4 hull-mounted disruptors 2 photon torpedo launchers Warp Speed (Max.): Warp 8.5 |
Swift-class fast cruiser
The Swift-class fast cruiser is another modified K'tinga-type cruiser designed for combat. There is an additional weapons port on the ventral hull for additional firepower directed at enemy ships, or for primary planetary surface strikes. Few ships remain in active duty as the bulk have been decommissioned in favor of newer ship designs. Currently there are 12,000 ships of this class in service, gradually being decommissioned.
Vessel Type: fast cruiser Length: 345.55 m long 250.75 m wide 98.40 m high Crew Complement: 650 Armaments: 6 hull-mounted disruptors 2 photon torpedo launchers Warp Speed (Max.): Warp 9.8 Gin Tak-class cruiser
The Gin Tak-class cruiser is a design which combines the K'tinga-class with the Bird-of-Prey design. Armed with 6 hull-mounted disruptors, the Gin Tak-class ships are capable of enforcing a blockade, or making hit-and-run attacks on enemy positions. These ships have been supplemented by the newer ships of the Klingon Defense Force, but continue to serve the empire. Currently there are 650,000 ships of this class in service, with no immediate plans to expand their numbers, nor any plans to decommission the class as a whole.
Vessel Type: Heavy cruiser Length: n/a Crew Complement: 700 Armaments: 6 hull-mounted disruptors 2 photon torpedo launchers Warp Speed (Max.): Warp 9.2 |
Boreth-class cruiser
The Boreth-class cruiser is the most utilized deep-range starship in both the KDF and the Imperial Starfleet. Named after the monastery where it is believed Kahless the Unforgettable will one day return to lead the Klingon people to new greatness, the cruiser carries a formidable array of weapons which it uses to defend the Klingon nation and the Trekylon Empire. Currently there are 95,000 ships of this class in service with no immediate plans to expand their numbers.
Vessel Type: Heavy cruiser Length: 345.50 m long 250.70 m wide 90.40 m high Crew Complement: 650 Armaments: 2 hull-mounted disruptors 2 photon torpedo launchers Warp Speed (Max.): Warp 9.2 |
Julcar-class cruiser
The Julcar-class cruiser is a modified K'tinga-type ship with a third warp-nacelle added for faster FTL travel. Utilizing quantum torpedoes and 5 hull-mounted disruptor cannons, the Julcar-class is a battlecruiser primarily used for defense and hit-and-run strikes deep in enemy territory. Many of these ships have been decommissioned due to advances in technology. Currently there are 110,000 ships of this class in service, with a gradual decommission in progress.
Vessel Type: Heavy cruiser Length: 349.54 m long 251.76 m wide 98.42 m high Crew Complement: 800 Armaments: 5 hull-mounted disruptors 2 photon torpedo launchers Warp Speed (Max.): Warp 9.7 Cha'Dich-class heavy escort cruiser
The Cha'Dich-class heavy escort cruiser is named after a warrior who stands with an ally, or brother, during judgement. Like its namesake, this class of ship follows all heavy cruisers into combat and acts to defend them from enemy counterattack. Because of this, these ships are often lost in action. Currently there are 145,000 ships of this class in service with plans to expand their numbers. Little information is available on this ship class currently

Fel'Vo'Ka-class cruiser
Considered the most unusually-designed ship in the KDF contingent of the Imperial Starfleet, the Fel'Vo'Ka-class is a testbed ship for new weapons designs. A torpedo 'pod' sits at the top of the ship, making it easier to target enemy ships with a double torpedo barrage. Also equipped with a cloaking device, this ship class is often seen in wargames with other Imperial Starfleet ships. Currently there are 450,000 ships of this class, most prominently in the Panthera system.
Vessel Type: Heavy cruiser Length: n/a Crew Complement: 800 Armaments: 4 hull-mounted disruptors 2 Photon torpedo launchers Warp Speed (Max.): Warp 9.2 BaQ-class heavy cruiser
The BaQ-class heavy cruiser is the first of the 'modern' ships in the KDF and Imperial Starfleet. With 8 hull-mounted disruptors, this was considered the 'powerhouse' of the KDF until the later development of the Negh'Var class. Several fleets of these ships are currently deployed on the Marches outside Klingon jurisdictional space, the BaQ-class has proven versatile in dealing with nearby Elasi pirate enclaves. Currently there are 330,000 ships of this class in service, with plans to maintain this number for the next 25 years.
Vessel Type: Heavy cruiser Length: n/a Crew Complement: 800 Armaments: 8 hull-mounted disruptors 2 photon torpedo launchers Warp Speed (Max.) Warp 9.4 Kang-class attack frigate
The Kang-class cruiser is a miniature version of the large Vor'Cha class design, employing the same weapons, shields and cloaking systems as their larger cousin. Mostly used in border defense, the Kang-class can act as a troop transport, armored courier and warship in one. Despite its high utility value in the Klingon jurisdictional boundaries of the Trekylon Empire, it has not been seen outside Klingon jurisdictional space. Therefore, little information is available to Imperial Databanks on the specifics of this class of ship.

Du'Vahk-class attack cruiser
The Du'Vahk-class cruiser is a variant of the Vor'Cha-class cruisers commonly seen in the Klingon-jurisdictional space of Trekylon. Roughly half the size of its cousin, the Du'Vahk-class is primarily use as both a border patrol ship and a planetary assault ship. Equipped with a cloaking device, this ship can slip in behind enemy lines for a quick strike. The consequence for their speed is in the fact that their firepower is less than the Vor'Cha cruisers. The exact number currently in service is unknown, though figures of between 400 and 800 ships are generally presumed.
Vessel Type: Border patrol Length: 451.32 m Width: 341.76 m Height: 104.87 m Crew Complement: 1,400 officers and troops Armaments: 9 ship-mounted disruptors 1 forward disruptor 2 photon torpedo launchers Warp Speed (Max.): 9.6 |
Vor'Cha class attack cruiser
The Vor'Cha-class attack cruisers are the backbone of the Klingon Defense Forces. Constructed using a combination of Klingon and Earth technology, the Vor'Cha-class cruisers are capable of bombarding planetary targets as easily as tearing through enemy fleets. Currently there are 5,500 Vor'Cha-class cruisers with plans to expand that number as the Klingons bring more systems into their jurisdiction and the empire as a whole.
Vessel Type: heavy cruiser Length: 481.32 m Width: 341.76 m Height: 106.87 m Crew Complement: 1,900 officers/troops Armaments: 18 ship-mounted disruptors 1 large forward disruptor 3 photon torpedo launchers cloaking device Warp Speed(Max.): 9.6 |
K'Vek class battlecruiser
The K'Vek-class battlecruiser is a seamless blending of the old K'tinga and more modern Vor'Cha designs, making it an effective warship. Seeing action for the first time in the Defense of Panthera, the K'Vek-class proved itself able to go toe-to-toe with their USOA opponents, even with their substantial losses. Currently there are 4,000 ships in service with plans to expand those numbers as the Klingons bring more systems into the empire. Can be equipped with cloaking devices for special 'behind-the-lines' strike missions deep into enemy space.
Vessel Type: battlecruiser Length: n/a Width: n/a Height: n/a Crew Complement: 500 officers/troops Armaments: 4 ship-mounted disruptors 2 medium forward disruptors 2 photon torpedo launchers Warp Speed (Max.): 9.4 |
Vas'Terak-class superbattleship
The Vas'Terak-class ships are the ultimate in command battleships in the Klingon Defense Force. Because so much resources are used to build the smaller ships, there are only two known Vas'Terak-class ships in the entirety of the empire. Nothing is known of the length, width, and height of the Vas'Terak-class ships except that they equal four Negh'Var battlecruisers and carry five times the firepower. These massive ships have never yet been encountered outside Klingon-jurisdictional space, but it is believed Chancellor Kurn's own flagship is a Vas'Terak-class ship.
Vessel Type: Command cruiser Length: n/a Width: n/a Height: n/a Crew Complement: 25,000 officers/troops Armaments: 130 ship-mounted disruptors 4 forward disruptors 2 photon torpedo launchers cloaking device Warp Speed (Max.): UNKNOWN (Believed to reach 9.9) Mogh-class cruiser
The Mogh-class cruiser is a quick-strike cruiser named after the father of the House of Mogh, whose current head is also Chancellor of the Klingon Empire. Considered a 'fast gunboat' in the Imperial Databanks, the Mogh-class carries a lethal plasma torpedo which can render starship hulls as pliable as paper. This class of ship has never been used in combat, though it has played a role in driving out pirates which attempted to seize control of a Klingon outpost. Atmosphere-capable, with landing gear for touchdowns on the surface of a planet. Currently there are 3,000 of these ships in service.
Vessel Type: cruiser Length: 678.30 m Width: 780.60 m Height: 420.70 m Crew Complement: 500 officers/troops Armaments: four ship-mounted disruptors two forward disruptors one photon torpedo/plasma torpedo launcher cloaking device Warp Speed (Max.): 9.0 |
Javtal-class cruiser
The Javtal-class cruiser is a design reminiscent of the old Raptor-class designs of the 22nd century. Built for long-range defense patrol, these ships are atmosphere capable, though they cannot land on planetary surfaces. Named after the mythical beast who traveled with Kahless as he fought to forge the First Empire. Currently, there are 5,000 ships of this class with plans to expand their numbers as the need for more ships becomes paramount.
Vessel Type: scout Length: n/a Width: n/a Height: n/a Crew Complement: 12 Armaments: 2 wing-mounted disruptor cannons 2 forward disruptors 1 photon torpedo launcher Warp Speed (Max.): 6.5 |
K'Tithrak-class battleship
Little is known of this class of starship as it has rarely been seen outside the Klingon Empire. It is believed to be five times the size of a Negh'Var-class battleship and almost ten times the size of a Vor'Cha-class cruiser. It is also believed to be bristling with disruptor banks, phaser arrays, and torpedo launchers, as well as particle cannon arrays. With a crew compliment believed to be in the 1,000-1,200 range, it is the largest ship in the Klingon contingent of the Imperial Starfleet
|
Negh'Var-class battleship
The Neg'Var-class battleship is the largest battleship in the Klingon Defense Force. Primarily a command ship, the Negh'Var-class carries with it enough firepower to severely damage even the most heavily fortified enemy installation. Seen more frequently outside Klingon jurisdictional space as a result of the severely depleted state of the Vor'Cha and K'Vort class ships.
Vessel Type: Heavy Cruiser Length: 682.32 meters Width: 470.09 meters Height: 136.65 meters Crew Complement: 2,500 officers and troops Armaments: 26 ship-mounted disruptors 1 large forward disruptor cannon 4 photon torpedo launchers cloaking device Warp Speed (Max.): 9.6 |
Voodieh-class frigate
Not much is known about this class of vessel aside from the fact it is half the size of the Negh'Var class ship of which it is a variant. Often associated with its larger cousins, the Voodieh-class is a support ship which primarily acts as additional defense of the Negh'Vars, but can also be used on strike missions on its own.
|
B'rel-class scout (proto-type Bird-of-Prey)
The B'rel-class scoutship is the proto-type for all future Bird-of-Prey design. Built in the pre-Unification period of Klingon history, the B'rel-class scout ship is a fast, manueverable ship equipped with a cloaking device. Capable of atmospheric flight, these ships can devastate large areas of a planetary surface within a matter of hours. Many have been lost in combat, while others fly on "a wing and a prayer". Currently there are less than 1,000 ships in service.
Armaments: 2 wing-mounted disruptor cannons 1 hull-mounted disruptor cannon Photon torpedoes |
Qaolin-class Bird-of-Prey
Very little is known about this class of Bird-of-Prey due to the secrecy in which the Klingon High Command has cloaked, even from the Imperial Starfleet Command. What is known is that this ship carries four forward ship-mounted disruptors, and two photon torpedo launchers, as well as a modified cloaking device. It is also atmosphere capable and can land to deploy troops to a planetary surface. All other information remains classified and can only be speculated.
|
Z'Gavva-class Bird-of-Prey
This vessel, another highly classified design from the Klingon High Command, is classified as a destroyer by the Imperial Starfleet Command. Utilizing the same weapons as the larger K'Vort-class and smaller B'Rel-class ships, the Z'Gavva-class ship is deployed primarily as front-line support in all Klingon Defense Force taskfleets. All other information about this design is highly classified.
|
Bloodhawk-class gunboat
This Klingon gunboat takes a radical approach to the B'Rel-class design of Bird-of-Prey, adding a sensor 'fin' to the dorsal hull, and thickening the neck of the Bird-of-Prey. Primarily used in planetary defense, the Bloodhawk-class gunboat utilizes the cloaking device that is standard for all Klingon warships.
Vessel Type: Gunboat Length: 157.70 meters Width: 181.56 meters Height: 98.84 meters Crew complement: 12 Armaments: 2 wing-mounted disruptor cannons 1 photon torpedo launcher Warp Speed (Max.): 9.6 |
K'Vort-class Bird-of-Prey
This Klingon cruiser is one of the most recognizable designs in all of Trekylon. Its smaller variant, the B'Rel-class, carries the same number of weapons, as well as cloaking device, as this class. This ship design is a match for anything else in the Trekylon Imperial Starfleet and can hold its own against other vessels.
Vessel Type: Cruiser Length: 678.36 meters Width: 780.62 meters Height: 423.72 meters Crew Complement: 1,500 Armaments: 4 wing-mounted disruptor cannons 2 photon torpedo launchers Warp Speed (Max.): 9.6 |
