The Economy of the Intergalactic Empire of Trekylon
The official currency of Trekylon is the Impero. The 'redback' is printed with an image of the Great Seal on front and reverse. I$1 coins are minted from gold. 25.c and 50.c pieces are stamped with the profile of the emperor on one, the Great Seal on the other, and are minted from silver. The 5.c and 10.c pieces are stamped with the Great Seal and minted from bronze. Gold-pressed latinum is used to back the currency. The Impero was inspired by the old Euro currency of Old Earth and is standard currency across the empire. There are discussions underway to mint Impero coins with the Great Seal on one side and a symbol of a colony world on the reverse, to further tie the colonies and protectorates in.
The chart below shows how the Impero compares to the United States dollar and the British pound. In some ways, the dollar outmatches the Impero, while in others the Impero outmatches the pound. Under the new regime of Drake I, new currency exchange centers have been established throughout Gaia, and across all systems in the Trekylonian Empire, to make it easier for visiting foreign tourists to exchange their native currencies for the Imperos.

The core territories of Trekylon-on-Gaia have an abundance of natural resources. Cotton is grown in three major areas: Across Texaco, the so-called Cotton Belt from Mississippia to Carolina, and in the south of the Big Island of Atlantis. Other crops are also grown, including corn (in the Mexia Valley), wheat (Texaco, Oklaho, and Arkansa), tobacco (Alibamo and Muscogee) and indigo (Carolina). Gold and iron are found in areas within or bordering mountain ranges (the Cardassian, Appalachian, Stony, and Lemurian Mountains), as well as in Oklaho. Oil (no longer used as fossil fuel but still important in science and medicine) is most abundant in Texaco, and off the coasts of Atlantis and Cubanola

The Amazonian Islands lack the diversity of resources that the Columbian, Amazonian, and Atlantian landmasses have, but the resources they do have are abundant. Mostly jungle, the high elevations do hold large quantities of gold, iron, and copper. River valleys are sites of large cotton plantations and fields of wheat, barley, and triticale. The oil fields and fishing areas are fewer than in Columbia.
