Tamriel Civil War/First Orconian Uprising/Horizon War
The Tamriel Civil War was a war not at first involving the empire. At the early stages, the empire gave material and logistical support to the United Galactic Imperial Empire of Tamriel (now the Union of Star System Republics) after their emperor Uriel Septim VII was assassinated by rebels seeking to establish their own state. The Civil War then merged into a general uprising by one of those rebel races, the Orconians-which led to direct Imperial involvement in the war. The final stages of the Civil War became internationalized as other nations saw an opportunity to give support to the rebels (many for their own ulterior reasons). The war ended with the capitulation of the Roman peoples as a client-state of the new USSR, but unfortunately never resolved the issue of the rebels' discontent, leading to a renewed war soon after.
Opening Phase
In the opening phase of the Civil War, Tamriel was reeling from the recent assassination. Many nations sent condolences, but others pledged to support the nation through its regime change. As Tamriel tried to regain the control it lost immediately after the assassination, rebel elements among the Orconian and Argonian peoples coalesced into the breakaway Orconian States. The United Empire of the SIM (simply referred to as SIM) announced support for the Tamrielans, and they were soon joined by the Carthaginians, Terrans, Imperial Macedonians, and Khaldorians. Initially, only Adamland backed the rebels-and only due to SIM's support of Tamriel. Genovia soon after joined Tamriel, which tilted the balance in favor of the Allies. After a series of defeats, Adamland withdrew from the war, leaving the rebels to fight the Allies on their own. The empire was initially content to monitor the war and send supplies and other aid to the Allies. Emperor (now His Intergalactic Imperial Majesty) Michael I felt a kindred spirit to the fallen Uriel Septim VII. But as the rebels proved resourceful despite the early exit of their Adamland patrons, other nations rushed to aid Tamriel, including Goodwinland. Adamland's return and overt assistance to the Argonians brough Vulcan in as Tamriel's ally. A brief diplomatic crisis nearly tore the Allies apart as Vulcan ships attacked Terran and Tamrielan ships, in an act of defense to an Adamland fleet which had been crippled. As attempts to negotiate were initiated, there seemed a need for a neutral nation to host the talks.
Enter Holy Trek
Holy Trek, having just began the process of separating itself from its Imperial Federation overseers, now entered the diplomatic war by making a statement. The Imperial government stressed its role as that of protector of the civilians-both Tamrielan and rebel, and warned that the Imperial Starfleet would act against whichever side broke the cease-fire. However, the interim leader (appointed emperor soonafter) of Tamriel goes missing, and finally derails the talks. Genovia withdraws from the talks, feeling the talks have collapsed. Meanwhile a cease-fire is arranged between the Terrans, Adamland, and Vulcan as the hunt for the new emperor of Tamriel continues. It's soon learned that the emperor was in fact the acting-emperor, Tyler Gillespie I. Adamland's final withdrawal, and the indecision finally led to Tamriel's attempt to set a lasting treaty into effect.
